Horror Films

           

             Many love horror movies, but I for one do not like them. I personally think, why you would purposely want to frighten yourself, but apparently people like the thrill. So why do a lot of people like watching horror movies?

         

             Many people like horror movies because of the after affect feeling of being scared. I watch a lot of horror movies because all of my friends like them, and I’m always out voted, and I know I always feel a rush of adrenaline. I think that that aspect of watching horror movies is the only remotely good part about horror movies. Many people like the adrenaline rush they get from watching horror movies and doing dangerous activities so this could be a major reason why people watch these types of films.

            

           A lot of my friends say that they like horror films because they don’t think that they are scary, rather they are funny. Many people who like scary movies don’t take the films literally, so they don’t become scared by the movie. Instead they look for all of the flaws in the movies, and look for the parts that look fake, and make fun of those parts. Is this a way to cope with fear? Or just how they view the movie?

Frozen

Frozen was projected to be a huge hit, but I don’t think anyone knew that it would be this big of one. Frozen has hit the number one spot on the billboard awards many times since its release in November. Why is Frozen such a huge hit? , Why does every age group love this film?, these are just some of the questions that I have been asking myself since the premier of Frozen.

If you haven’t seen the movie Frozen, then I highly recommend watching it, but it’s about two young princesses that are the best of friends until one day when Elsa’s powers of being able to shoot ice and snow out of her hands, injures Anna. Elsa is told never to tell anyone about it, not even Anna. This is where 10 years of Elsa not talking to Anna, and staying locked up in her and not talking to anyone kicks in. That is until the day of coronation. This day is supposed to be a great day where Elsa becomes queen, but turns into the worst day. To make this simple, everyone finds out about her power, and puts a curse on the entire city. This is where the great adventure takes place to get Elsa back and change the curse that is put on the city. This movie is jam packed with adventure, heartwarming, and funny moments that everyone who has seen Frozen has loved.

One reason why everyone loves this movie is because it’s a throwback to the old Disney movies. Everyone loved the movies such as Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Snow White, but recently Disney has been producing films that don’t have the true Disney spirit. This film could have done so well, because it was actually one of Walt Disney’s ideas, but the producers and writers today, changed it a bit. This would explain why so many teenagers actually love this movie, just like me, because we grew up with the old Disney movies, and Frozen takes us back to our childhood.

 

In every great movie you need a wisecracking side kick. There is no doubt that Frozen has one too. In frozen, Olaf the snowman really lightens the mood, with funny and appropriate phrases and comebacks. Olaf is a favorite character of many because he is adorable, and his funny hijinks are truly humorous. Maybe this is a reason why so many are intrigued by Frozen.

                                

You can’t have a Disney movie without the songs and ridiculous music. The music in Frozen was pretty good, you could tell that there were really exceptional songs, and that there were some songs that were a little iffy. However for a children’s movie, they did a great job of writing song that the children would like. I wouldn’t say that these songs were the best songs that Disney has written, but maybe for some, the music was what really made the movie for the.

 No matter what aspect of Frozen each individual person liked, there was for sure at least one aspect of the movie that every person liked, which made for a truly wonderful movie!

 

Why is Pretty Little Liars such a hit show?

Immediately when Sara Shepard came out with her first book Pretty Little Liars, this new book series was the rave, gradually intriguing more and more people every month. A few years later and about 20 more hit books to add to the series, Pretty Little Liars is still going strong.  So why is this book series and television show such a hit.

Pretty Little Liars is a teen thriller about 5 of the most popular friends is Rosewood. These girls have everything from clothes, to the biggest houses, to the most secrets. Everything is perfect until one day one of the five friends Ali is mysteriously murdered. Aria, Spencer, Emily, and Hanna, think that a year later the worst is behind them but when the girls begin getting messages threatening to tell all of their pretty little secrets, they begin to wonder you this “A” is signing all the notes. Could it be Ali’s murderer, or worse, Ali herself? Every book tells a new story of how the girls end up in trouble because of the things they have done in the past, and unfortunately the secrets they are trying to conceal right now.  Is the thrilling element of the books and television shows enough to get people to watch. In some cases yes, teens like adventure and thrill, and this series brings it all. Another reason why this series could have caught the attention of so many is because the books aren’t too scary, just the right amount to get the viewers to continue watching.

 

I really liked this book series for the longest time because it had a lot of drama and a hint of mystery without being too scary. The book is written where each chapter is about one of the four girls perspectives so you really get to know each of the girls personalities, while all of the individual stories are intertwined into one main story plot. Most of the time you don’t even notice the parts switching throughout the book, because it is so well written the story just flows. However after a while the continuous drama got really boring from stretching out the story so much. I believe that there are currently over 20 books in the series so you can imagine that Sara Shepard started to run out of ideas, the dirty little secrets get dumber and dumber.

                                                           

The Pretty Little Liars television series on ABC Family, is actually really good, probably better than the books. I have to say however the television show is actually really good because it sticks mostly to what the books say and the show is so action packed. After every episode you are left wondering what is going to happen next. I liked this aspect of the show, and I think is the number one factor in making a great television series, that viewers get really addicted to watching the show because you really want to figure out what happens next. Pretty Little Liars ended their fourth season, and premiering its fifth at the beginning of June. This just shows that pretty little liars are going strong and will go strong for a very long time to come.
