Bruno Mars: Half Time Show

Last Sunday was a big day for football fans, the Super Bowl. Even if you don’t like football, you can still enjoy hanging out at super bowl parties, eating a ton of food, or watching the half time show. This year the half time show was done by Bruno Mars, who is known for many of his number one songs. This year at the super bowl Bruno Mars sang three songs, with a guest appearance from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

I thought the half time performance was good but it definitely wasn’t the all-time best half time performance. I liked how the performance was upbeat and you could see the energy in the crowd. I liked how his music is a little different from the rest of the top singers and songwriters in his genre of music. I liked how it had more of a jazzy, 1960’s vibe to it, instead of just doing what every other singer does.
Bruno Mars is definitely a performer, you can tell by watching him that he loves performing, singing, and dancing. A lot of singers try too hard to perform, and dance well, but Bruno really knows what he was doing. Bruno Mar’s backup singers and band all wore gold metallic jackets that really brought the 1960’s vibe once again. His band was made up of not only of guitarists and drummers, but also of members playing jazz-like instruments, such as trumpets and saxophones. I loved this aspect of the performance and was actually the thing that I remembered the most about the entire performance. This aspect just set him apart from the rest of the singers that could have performed on super bowl Sunday.
Even though Bruno Mar’s performance wasn’t the best performance, it was still the high light of my super bowl experience, considering the actual game was such a blowout. Some things that I thought could have made the super bowl half time performance better, but is probably the single hardest thing to do while choosing the performer, is picking some that everyone will like. This is extremely hard in our country because there is so many music genres, that we can’t please everyone with the selection. However I think that whoever was in charge of picking the half time performance did a good job at picking a singer that is popular now, and one that was popular from the past. They did a good job of having Bruno Mars as the main performer, but then throwing in the Red Hot Chili Peppers, as a blast from the past!
