The Music Industry is Changing

The music industry has changed a lot in the last decade, from the generations before us. Many changes have been made to music, and these changes determine what the music listeners think of the music. Our generations music preferences has changed so much in the past few years, because now all of the music teens find good, is becoming all the same sound.

I feel like we have so many different genres of music but all the genres are morphing into one bug pop genre. For example, all the radio stations always play the same exact music, and after listening to it for so long, I have gotten tired of all the same music. I feel like music writers try to be different with their music, but it all ends up sounding the same at the end of the day.

We used to have definite genres of music, which most people either liked or didn't like. The most controversial type of music was country music and pop music. People who like pop didn’t like country and vice versa. Now however country and pop are coming together to form a new type of music, which may just be worse than either of the two in the first place. If you don’t know what I am talking about listen to some Florida Georgia Line, or Taylor Swift. People might say this is country, but really it is just combing with what’s popular right now, pop.

Some of the greatest music to be ever be written was from forty years ago, and everyone from this generation knows the music, because it was such great music. But is anybody even going to be singing any of the music from our generation, will any of the present day music ever be legends. At this point I don’t have much hope, sure some songs are amazing now, but as fast as these songs flew to the top, they are going to drop back down just as quickly. For example, last year’s hit song was Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus, but as fast as that song grew in popularity, it dropped right back down. This year, everybody has been singing the song Happy, by Pharrel Williams, but I doubt that in 40 years our grandchildren will still be singing these songs.

My point in all of this is if we the people who virtually run the music world, don’t start determining what is popular and what is just plain awful music, then our generation isn't going to be known for anything except for Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber.
