Electronic Books VS Regular Books

Everything in the world today seems to be somehow electronic. From phones and computers, to medical technology. Now you can buy everything off the internet, and could almost never leave your house and have everything you need to survive. The one thing that has been around for forever, and are a good form of constant entertainment are books. But now books too have turned to the electronic side. You used to have to go to the library and look for the next great book you wanted to read but now, everything is right at your fingertips. For some the invention of the nook and kindle are great electronics to have but for me, I prefer the old fashioned actually book.
One of the major reasons why I prefer to have an actual book while reading is because I like the feeling of flipping the pages, and the satisfaction of gradually getting further and further into the book. I like to know that I am actually making progress. With electronic books you don’t actually get the motions of turning the pages of a book, rather just clicking a button, and it automatically doing it for you. The problem with our society today is that everything is automatic. I’m not saying that this is a bad thing, however this could be why our generation is growing up differently than all the other previous generation. In the future children of America might not even be able to feel a true book in their hands, because everything will be electronic, so I think that we need to preserve and continue with the way of reading that our ancestors have been doing for hundreds of years.
Being able to get and read books anywhere you are can also be a positive thing. Being able to purchase a book any time, any place is really convenient. For example if you are about to go on vacation but forgot your book, you may buy a book electronically within minutes. However I think that some people take this aspect of reading for granted because they end up never reading books again, or never going to the library. I know that once my mom got a nook she never went back to real books or the library.

Another reason why we shouldn't become so invested in electronic books is because electronic books actually cost money, and some can be spendy. If you are like me I think that it is ridiculous to buy a book if you are only going to read it once. That’s why libraries are extremely beneficial, since you can check out a book, read it, and return it at no cost!
