Some
authors just have a special place in my heart, one of them being Nicholas
Sparks. When I was in middle school I had a huge phase of only reading Nicholas
Sparks books. I really liked reading what "true love" really was. I
still like reading Nicholas Sparks books, just not as much as before.
Nicholas
Sparks is a fantastic writer who puts so much thought and enthusiasm into
writing his books. He has so many books, but they all take a new twist on the
classic love story. His writing is just so heart felt, and he really knows how
to pull your heart strings. When reading his books you become so attached to
the writing that when something tragic happens to a character you truly feel
for them. However you can also feel their happiness, or excitement. I love
these kinds of books because you make a connection with the characters, so you
can enjoy the book entirely. These books are just heart warming as a whole.
I also
enjoy reading Nicholas Sparks books because the setting and the way he describes
things is just so vivid. All of the books are set in North Carolina, and the
way he describes it just sounds so beautiful. I love the amount of description
that he uses because you can paint a picture in your mind, however it also
isn't too much description. With books that have way to much description, it
becomes very difficult to read, because of the endless reading one what one
specific thing looks like. Nicholas Sparks amount of description is perfect,
and he definitely knows how to keep his audience focused on the book.
However
sometimes I wonder if Nicholas Sparks books are good for girls my age. There
are many things that aren't realistic about Nicholas Sparks, and romance books
in general. Some of these ideas that Nicholas Sparks puts into young girls
heads can really affect their future. The biggest effect being that when you
are in a relationship you will expect the perfect romance in the books or
movies that you have seen. Because its true those romances in books and movies
are perfect, and would never actually be that perfect in real life. Real life
relationships take time, and there are ups and downs that make the relationship
difficult but that is what a relationship is all about.
This
leads me to another subject involving romantic books and movies, there is
always a happy ending. In real life there isn’t always happy ending, and these
books and movies are teaching young girls that happy ending exist. Which
sometimes they do but not the extent that the books and movies show.
I
always ask myself while reading Nicholas Sparks, or any romance novel, should I
really be reading this, or is this just going to affect my future, because no
person is perfect!
