I personally have never been able to see why
someone would want to reread books. I really only like reading a book once, not
over and over again.
I know that not everyone agrees with me, and I can
see why they wouldn't want to agree with me. When you reread books you learn
about new details of the story that you didn't see before. This would be the
only aspect of rereading books that I see as beneficial. For example rereading
the Harry Potter series, I could find out even more about the story that I
hadn't caught the first time. By rereading you can learn more about the story
line, characters, and the back story. However these points still don't persuade
me to reread any books.
If you read if more than once then all of the
excitement is gone, because you already know what is going to happen. Even with
my favorite book series, Harry Potter, I have never felt the need to reread the
books. When rereading books you know everything that is going to happen, so its
not an adventure anymore. You aren't surprised by anything that takes place anymore.
I like to read new books so that I get that feeling of excitement and not
knowing what is going to happen next.
Another reason why I don't reread is because there
are too many books out there that I want to read. There are millions of
great books out there that I haven’t read yet, and how I see it, I might as
well spend my time reading all the books I have never read before. What might
be your favorite book today, and it’s the only book that you just reread over
and over again, may not always be your favorite book, if you put yourself out there
and try reading new things. You will never no unless you try reading new books.
I used to only read one type of genre and only read long series of that genre,
but I later found out that I liked other genres of books, and I would have
never figured that out if I wouldn’t have started reading new books.
Overall, everyone has their own opinion about whether
or not it’s a good idea to reread books, but I know that I will probably never
feel the need to reread books. I just hope for everyone reading this blog post
that you look for new books to entertain your brain.
